SEO is also important to get your site listed in search engines. Today many people like e-business. So they just come to cyber cafe and type what they want to buy. At that time if the particular search engine shows our page on first 5 resultss, chances are increased to get visits from user.

Depends on your work i can say that. Search engine may help or hindered your website. In SEO there are white hat and black hat tech. Both we use to help boost rankings. White hat tech if used, you will defintely get high rankings but you have to be patient. No change to get banned from search engine. Black hat tech if used, you will get high rankings within few time. But chances to get banned highly increases. So its depends on how you optimize your site.
