TR3a....We were SCAMMED

By GSD Mom at 05/24/08 11:17

Florida, any: Does anyone recognize this photo????It appears the VIN is: EB72962 We recently were defrauded in the purchase of 1962 Triumph TR3. Can anyone help me determine who the REAL owner of this vehicle is? We'd like to contact them and inquire as to who they may have had correspondence with and how the scammer could have possibly obtained the photos he used to convince us he actually owned the car? I can be email contacted at shandasmum [at] yahoo.com

We are working with the local Sheriffs Office but they seem to have come to a deadend. I'm not giving up that easily. I can e-mail photos to anyone who inqures in an effort to identify this car.

[Ed note: can you tell us about the actual scam so others can help avoid it?]

The Volkswagen Legacies

By Sam Heisin at 05/15/08 16:28
Philippines, Cars: Volkswagen Type 3

While Toyota is the modern day idea of a every nations national car brand, it was different some 50 or 60 years ago. Mostly in Asia, Volkswagen have already created a name and even made a mark in every country it had been, most especially in the Philippines.

Recently, I was in Subic Bay, Philippines and I was in awe at the sight of the cars that welcomed me. It all started with the luxury car that serviced me to Subic, a new Volkswagen Phaeton. It was brilliant and really look great in its royal silver color. This modern model form the German automaker really resembles almost a perfect masterpiece. The speed, the comfortability - all are commendable.

However, upon arrival to Subic, the modern car era swiftly went off my mind. As I went out of the car, a bunch of vintage Volkswagens welcomed me. The parking lot where we parked is full of VWs everywhere.

When I got to roam the place, I saw that Volkwagen Type 3 Notchback and it made me smile. Its been quite a while since I last saw a Type 3. It was still in perfect condition. You wouldn't even think its a car of the 60's! Its still shiny and definitely still has its charms in it. I also saw VW caravans, sedan types and even a Type 3 fastback coupe version.

But if we are talking about Volkswagen in the Philippines, the one car that ruled and still rules them all in VW's Type 1, the Beetle! If it will be ranked, it is undoubtedly the most famous car in the country up until now. A very distinctive creation of Volkswagen is also the Type 2, or the Kombi Bus! Who would forget those buses in different colors? There was even a time in history, according to my book, where people goes on a picnic, or a camp and they all a Volkswagen Bus.

These vintage Volkswagens are keeping the memories alive for those fans of the VW masterpieces. The legacy these cars have left will always stay in every man's heart. Seriously.

Mini Is Big For Me

By Sam Heisin at 05/03/08 12:19
Colorado, Mini: 1975 Mini Cooper Sedan

This morning, I was roaming around the village when I happen to pass by the house of our new neighbor. I was stunned when I saw in their lawn a parked vintage car. From how it looks, I can say its a 1960 to 1970 super Mini. I wasn't really sure because I have not seen in in closer range but I'm pretty much definite that it is a mini.

I really have the heart for vintage cars. I so love how it looks. I have seen a lot of copper minis before but it never fails to amaze me every time I see one.

For those of you who do not you (though I believe theres only a few people who doesn't know what minis are), minis are small type cars that generally produced in Europe particularly in the United Kingdom. It was popular in its days up to now. The genuine Mini production started in 1959 that last up to 2000 and was superseded by the New MINI, which was own by BMW. Do not forget to write it in all capital letters. This is done to avoid criss crossing of ideas from its predecessor. The Coopers are the sporty versions of the very successful minis. The minis are purposely made to lessen the consumption of oil and only to provide comfort for for a 5-6 seater small car.

Nowadays, they are more of the collectible car than used as a real car. Its really rare seeing them in road. I have seen many of them only in the garage and museums. However, those preserved Minis will most likely sell for double or even triple its original price if sold. Some vintage versions are also considered priceless, no amount of money can equal its value.

Even I, if ever I was given the chance to own a vintage mini, I definitely will not sell it. There are now tons of different designs of MINI because of the application of modern designs as headed by BMW, but the looks and style and the original idea of the original Mini is still the best for me, at least.
