Crnk Sensor on Geo Tracker Engine

On 05/28/09 00:37, Big D asked the following question:

I have a 1996 Geo Tracker that needs an engine. To my usual luck, I have been unable to locate a decent engine. I have picked up an engine from a 95 because I was told I could use it if I swap a couple parts: distributor, oil pan, and intake. My problem is this. I was told to use the oil pan from the 96 to accommodate the crankshaft sensor.....BUT.......come to find out that the block from the 95 engine does not have a place for the sensor.

My question is how will I get the engine to run well without the sensor? The 95 did not require a crank sensor.
