An Emotional Racing Accident

By Michael Shoemaker at 03/26/08 20:51

I was doing my regular youtube round up when I spotted a video that literally brought me to tears. Yea, I am an emotional ass. But who could have not felt sorry for this little soul. Watch it so you'll know.

YouTube Video

It was a race, GP Holland in 1973. A racer, Roger Williamson crashed on his lap 8 round. It was a very hard crashed, fires where everywhere, his vehicles was totally crashed and under fire, with him still stuck inside. A co-racer and a friend, David Furley stopped to helped his dying friend and aid in the crash. Normally the first people to come in the crash seen would have been the safety team or the aid team. But unfortunately, they were too lazy to move that Furley himself was the first on the scene.

He tried to roll over the car to get his friend out, but he can't because of the fire. Rescue team finally came. But not enough. All they were equipped was a single fire extinguisher. Only one, and it cannot compensate the fire. It was depleted, but the fire still rages. You can see how upset Furley was with the incident. He was trying his best to pull and help his friend out but the people around him, the people who are supposed to help him, did no do anything. They just stared at the dying Williamson.

Furley's hope for Williamson's survival faded. He died out of people's non-cooperativeness. If only the safety of the racers were secured, an accident that caused a man's life might not happen.

This is something that really struck me. Something that will never be forgotten as a reminder of how people's mistakes can caused their lives.

The Smart Car

By Car Agent at 03/24/08 16:44
All of us wants safety when we drive. Security on the road is one of the greatest concern of drivers. But some accidents really just can't be avoided. Even if you are careful, but the person who is driving opposite you is not, then an accident will still happen. For this case, Smart Cars were already introduced.

The Smart Car were originally built for convenience in the parking space. Because of its size, which is relatively small, you can park your car nosed-in unlike normal size cars of which has to be park paralleled. In the recent years, smart cars were added with some features, its security and safety status. They said its impossible for a person to die inside a smart car. Its like putting an armored suit one you entered a smart car. But enough of what I'm saying. You must watch this first, a smart car crash, wherein smart cars were tested about how will it look and how will it end up after the crash, and what happens to its passengers as well.

Though the safety of this car is still under negotiation, and the production of this car is already halted because of dwindling sales, smart cars still prove that its one of the best car for the young generation. Cheap, safer than the other cars, and best of all, small. A road trip for 'two persons and a case of beer'.
