A few days ago we featured the Godzilla of shopping carts, the gigantic cart our spy spotted in Punta del Este in Uruguay. He came back with a few more pictures of what the streets of Uruguay can offer to motor enthusiasts.
It seems like the streets of Montevideo are full of classic, good looking cars. And one of them is that Chevrolet Impala you're seeing on top right of this article. That probably is part of the 2nd generation Impala that was built form 1962-1964.
The Impala series is definitely one of the flagship cars of Chevrolet. They have started the production of the Impala back in 1958 and up to now, it's still performing very well. It has been a household name for many years.
There are millions of Impala all around the world since it was first produced by Chevrolet. As a matter of fact, according to Reuters, the Impala nameplate is the best selling American sedan in 2008. It is also the 8th best selling car in the United States.
Early models of Impala are perhaps best known for their unique feature of having 3 sets of taillights instead of just having two. All in all there are 6 lights at the rear part of Impalas, something you won't see in any other car during that time.
The Impala is named after an African antelope, the Impala, a favorite meal of the lions.
