BESTtrafficschool.com Interview

By Interviewer at 09/06/07 11:24
Name of your website?

BESTtrafficschool.com

Your name?

Matthew Kaminsky

Your Location (city, etc)

Woodland Hills, CA

Please give us a short summary of your website?

This online traffic school is best suited for those who received a traffic ticket and wish to clear their record from home. Money back guarantee.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

A website was necessary for my business. Our course is entirely ONLINE.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

BESTtrafficschool.com is my first website. We launched in early 2000.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Ourname was selected for 2 reasons: 1) The name began with the letter "B" which ensured that we would get listed near the top of phone books/web listings that are alphabetized. 2) We strive to be the "BEST" and want our customers to know that they are choosing a quality program.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

We know that traffic school is a burden for most people. Unlike a lot of competitors we don't have any gimmicks. We know that they would like to get this over with as soon as possible. So we make it VERY straight-forward, whil still providing interesting, engaging material.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Our goal is to expand and make our course available where online traffic school options are available in the U.S. We are currently approved in California, Virginia, and Nevada. More to come in the near future.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Everything worth having takes hard work. LOTS of time and money have been spent. Our success is a result.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

If we had unlkimited funds, we would change our course to include more interactive examples, movies, etc. to make the process easier visually.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, but it would take some fast thinking on our part. We have a small staff that handles our customer service and IT needs. With fast growth we would need a larger phone center, a lot of training to keep providing our high standard of customer service, etc.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Leasing my own dedicated server, SEO, monthly web design changes

What has been your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge has been keeping up with the ever-changing requirements by the courts in my industry. In a state like California, where there are over 50 counties, each county has the authority to dictate different requirements, and they do. Our site needs to perform one way for one county, anpther way for a different county, and so on. Because of the lack of uniformity, our site is a real challenge to program and maintain.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Pay-Per-Click advertising in search engines.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I didn't realize how much work has to go into SEO, maintenance, competition, etc. It has forced me to become hands-on and a lot more educated than I ever thought I'd have to be.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have run the site since 2000. We have seden significant gains yearly and do not imagine that we will discontinue or sell any time in the near future.

If you could go back, would you do it over again?

Yes. The challenges are there. Hard work is involved. But there is nothing like being in business for yourself.

What is your website address?
