This might sound like an old issue, but giant automakers finally put the Start-Stop engines back.
As most of you know, the Start-Stop engine initially debuted in Volkswagen's Lupo fuel sipper in 1999. Although it did not enjoy much popularity and support from car addicts, it seems that its time has finally come.
Start-Stop engines are put in sync with every traffic lights. When the traffic light went red for a stop, your engine stops too. When the green light is on, then you're also on your way to strolling the roads again.
With the price of gas raging and soaking up buyers with higher price, the Start-Stop is said to help people save from the oil usage. The approximate savings from gas consumption is 19%, most definitely not a high percentage to cut down the cost but it sure is a very tempting thing if you really is serious with cost cutting from oil consumption.
This innovation that will be headed by the Benz cars will mostly be seen in the roads of Europe for the next 5 years, for they planned to put it as 'standard' in their every car. German automakers Audi and BMW are also eyeing this technology and would soon be implementing it to their cars. The American auto market has also expressed great response with this issue.
Aside from the oil savings feature, the Start-Stop engines is also said to play a major role in decreasing the rate of road accidents since reckless drivers cannot accelerate that fast not until the green light goes on and the engine recovered its top speed.
Well with that, I am sensing a new plummeting downrate in car sales. Well, if they will be putting this to 'standard' in the next five years, I don't see any reason why I have to buy a car before that time. I don't want to have a new car today or in the next year while my neighbors enjoy their 19% oil savings in the future.
