Stolen Car Magnets

10/15/09 07:54

So there for a while, I could not see myself with one of those "support the troops" or breast cancer awareness" magnets on the back of my car. Not that I didn't believe in or support their causes, because I DO, it was just the fact that I hadn't come across them and I didn't really want to sport one on the back of my car. Just recently while shopping at my local mall, I seen one that caught my eye and I decided to buy it.

I was at Spencer's Gifts. I'm sure your all aware of that store, it's a funny and unique little store. I noticed a lot of funny car magnets that they had. Some were a little inappropriate, some weren't. I spotted one that I liked and it matched my car. It was a white and red heart in the middle of two guns, and had bullet holes inside it. It was very cute and my car is a little red sports car so it matched perfectly. I placed it right on my back bumper, under my spoiler, and it looked great.

I had the magnet on my car for maybe two days when I had noticed it missing. I couldn't believe it! Surely it hadn't fallen off, but anything can happen, right? Again, I really liked this magnet so I went and bought another one. They were only $2.99. Very inexpensive. I drove around in the pouring rain and it hadn't moved an inch so I knew the first one didn't fall off. Someone must have taken it. It was about two weeks later when I noticed my new magnet was missing too!

I realized the fact they kept coming up missing was ridiculous. I mean if 1 out of 3 cars I see has a "support the troops" magnet on it, and they seemed to keep their magnets for a while, why couldn't I have a simple magnet on my car without it being disappearing? Could it be possible that their magnets were always being stolen and replaced too, or was it just because mine was different? I haven't come to a conclusion yet, but I have decided for the time being that I would not buy any more magnets for my car.

I've had 2 magnets on my car for several years. No one bothered them either at home or at the parking lot at work, until recently. A new building is under construction next to my office building and the construction workers usurp several parking spots, which they aren't supposted to do. There are several different firms/companies in the building. Everyone who works in the building has a designated spot in the lot. People from the firm that owns the building have to go out and tell them to move their vehicles - mostly large trucks that take up more than one spot. My spot happens to be right at the end of the lot, nearest the construction...and both magnets have disappeared. I wonder why. The only thing is, I don't work for the firm that owns the building. We're only a tenant. I'll only replace my magnets once the construction is done.
