If you have seen the Chevrolet Tahoe hybrid and the GM Yukon hybrid before, then there's no way you can't recognize the all new Chevy Silverado hybrid. Like its brothers, the Silverado went to an extensive change. The Silverado uses the two-mode hybrid transmission, aluminum-block 6.0-liter pushrod V8 and 300-volt nickel-metal hydride battery pack. This very same specs can also be found in the Yukon and Tahoe hybrid.
But what separated the Silverado to its brothers is that the truck did not undergo a weight development training. Chevrolet did not change put the Silverado to a weight reduction program. This means that the hybrid Silverado is a lot heavier as compared to the non-hybrid Silverado, and 300 pounds heavier at that.
The truck also uses a low-rolling-resistance Bridgestone all-season tires that is set to improve fuel mileage.
Nevertheless, the Silverado is still the pick up you've grown with. It still has its gargantuan power of towing things. The two wheel drive Silverado Hybrid can still carry 6,100 pounds. The four wheel drive however can caryy less at 5,00 pounds.
The new Silverado Hybrid sounds appealing, but the pricing for the hybrid truck is still unknown. Chevrolet has not released official statements how would the price of the Silverado Hybrid go.
But I think they will priced the Silverado lesser than the Tahoe and the Yukon, because we all know sales of both vehicles are not very impressive. At this age of $4 per gallon of gas, we can't expect people to buy expensive pickups even if it's a hybrid.
By the way, Chevrolet also included a lot of stickers in the Silverado Hybrid. The strickers are of course to denote that the vehicle is a hybrid, so the people around you will look at your car as a good example to mankind and they will think you care for the world.
