We have long been waiting for the Chevrolet Volt to land dealerships but until this day, it hasn't. This is because the fnal production car design is still on the testing stage. But General Motors said that the release of the Volt to the public will be very soon and they are ahead of their expected schedule.
The first preproduction Chevy Volt prototype had already been made last Tuesday. It comes complete with a chassis and a final bodywork. The prototype will be known as Integration Vehicle #1 and GM said that they will be producing 80 of these prototypes for thorough testing that will happen in the coming months.
The pre-production prototype is already out on the streets to proceed on its testing stage. The car is being driven by the GM's high-profile persons like Chevrolet Volt Vehicle Chief Engineer Andrew Fara. You can see the video of him driving it below.
“The mules demonstrated the potential drive experience of the Volt’s chassis and powertrain, but the pre-production vehicles bring together the complete Volt experience into one dynamic vehicle.” These are excerpts of what Farah said in a blog post from their company's website.
“We’re producing a few Volts per week now, but we’ll quickly ramp up to 10 per week and will have approximately 80 pre-production vehicles built by October....... By exceeding our own pre-production deadlines it allows us additional time to refine the vehicle." Farah added.
