Don't get the title wrong, this isn't an interview with the superhero with the same name. The Flash I am talking about here is different. An old man, though famous for being the fastest driver, at least for his age, in the Philippines. I got the chance to talk to him yesterday because of the heavy rain. I was in the lobby of the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City when I spotted him. He looks old, but you can still sense the aura of being famous and being rich, lol. I started our conversation by asking the time, and he answered politely, a thing I wasn't expecting for a famous old man. Then we talk continuously. He is already 74 years old. His fame started when he was 69 years old when he drove his son's yellow open top Porsche. People along the country's longest highway, EDSA, noticed him and started making a fuzz about his fast driving despite of his age. So the local TV network, GMA, looked for him and interviewed him. An instant celebrity, and the rest, as they say, is history. As our conversation started to deepen, he told me he just learned driving at the age of 56. Pretty old eh? And because he was born from a poor family, they don't have any car to practiced on. So he then worked hard to achieve his goals, until he put his children all to college and eventually graduate and now all professionals. He retired from working at the age of 56 and there he started studying how to drive. His cars were not for sports and hes tired of looking at them so he borrowed his son's sports car and trailed the EDSA highway where his good fate begun. He is so down to earth and very humble. I admire him so much. He even taught me ways how to drive safely especially for an amateur like me. It really is an amazing day. Yesterday, me and Kat went to Sta. Lucia Grand Mall with her brother Jo. We were to play games on the top floor but to our surprise, there were concoctions of cars displayed. There were new models from Porsche, Audi, Ferrari and more. But on the other part of the event, the displays were a bit different. They are antique cars! I drooled over by the looks of those cars. Old GMC trucks, Saturns, Fords and more. But what caught my attention is the Ford Galaxie. Its written on the tablet that is it a 1966 model, but I cannot find any trace that is an old one. It looks pretty new. It is a 2 door car, with 315 horse power! I don't know what this means, but it's written that it is 3-speed. Anyway, the outside features of it really look nice! The upholstery seems new to me, it shines whenever I stare at it. But the price is really high. Its a whooping $6,000! I really love antique cars but I know I will have limited use of them so I guess I will just buy them for collection in the near future. Kat loves the new Porsche Cayenne and Boxter Spyder. Really, their appearance is so solid to me. You'll know they are expensive by their appearance alone. I have a British friend who owned a Cayenne and never did he fail to boast about it. Porsche Models in our country are like goddesses roaming around the highways. Its really an unusual things seeing Porsche roaming the streets. So if ever you have this, I bet, you will be treated as a God. Lol. Not really, but almost. The debut of these innovative cars made car addicts like me into cramming. New cars that are also on the gallery are model cars from Subaru, Chrysler, Audi, Pontiac, GMC, Hummer, Ford, Acura and more.
