Oil Price Protests

By Sam Heisin at 06/28/08 17:21

In just a few months, the price of fuel reached highest in records. With more or less $4 per gallon in the US, it is really not surprising to know that there were a couple of protests held in different parts of the globe against the high price of gasoline. In particular, the worst of all protest against oil prices known to mankind happened just yesterday in Germany.

A 30 year old unemployed man came gave the last of his suffering from the high price of oil when he burned his black BMW-3 Series in public. He drove his car onto the location of Frankfurt's convention center, set off, opened a canister of gasoline and then set his car to fire.

When the police officers and the fire department arrived in the scene, the car was already burned up. When asked, he said he can no longer afford the price of oil and that he can no longer drive his car. This is not surprising because Germany really have a very upsetting gas price. A gallon of oil in Germany cost as much as Euro 1.55, or a whopping $9.40 per gallon!

In many parts of Asia, particularly in the South East, street protest and demonstrations against major oil companies were also held.

It would be nice to learn that future rallies and demonstrations will feature this song, the Classical Gasoline or simply the Classical Gas by Mason Williams as covered by Lisa Simpson.
