Fewer Car Accidents Because of Fuel Price

By Tony Stark at 07/23/08 23:47

We have all been complaining about the ultra high fuel price. A lot have already left their cars in their garages aiming to lessen their fuel consumption and save every dollar they can. But at the very least, the high price of oil also bring good things.

In a study, results show that in over 30 years, car related accidents are down to its lowest levels. This is perhaps due to most of the people's decision of staying out of their wheels and just public transportation.

In a report by Associated Press, most of the states are posting 10-20% decline on road accidents. Also in a study by National Safety Council, total traffic deaths in the US have declined 9% from the start of the year to May. However, it is not directly stated that the reason for this is because of high oil prices, although we all know that is a factor.

Some families have banned using their personal cars especially those SUVs and trucks. Number of vehicles in the road today have also decreased, while commercial vehicles saw a big opportunity.

Automakers are suffering from decreasing sale because of the record high oil price. In a related news, Obama is pushing a $4B bill that aims to help the Detroit car industry.

“America cannot truly prosper unless Michigan prospers,” Obama said on the Detroit Press Free report. “I will provide real solutions necessary to help this industry compete and win in the global economy,” he added.
