New 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR - Overpriced?

By Car Agent at 05/12/08 05:04
California, any: Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR

I just received a news from a friend about the price of the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR that was released in the opening of spring this year. The price Ford put for their car masterpiece is a whopping US$79,995! I was outraged when I learned about it! How could it possibly be priced as that? Weren't Mustang supposed to be inexpensive? I thought it was built for fun! Turns out I'm wrong.

But anyway, I did some research to confirm about this news and its really true. But then, I believe the price went insanely high because of Carroll Shelby's participation in it! That additional Shelby on the cars name is the reason why they put it like that. If it was named Mustang GT500KR, I believe the price is relatively lower. When I saw that Mustang's footage on the New York International Auto Show last year, I thought it will only go for about $40,000-$50,000. But I was 30 thousand short!

Let's lay down the cards for it be priced like that. First, the Mustang Shelby GT500KR will be built for a limited number only. That means you have to rush if you want to have that. Are you serious? Secondly, I believe it was built for the car collectors. Seriously, who will want to buy that expensive for a Mustang? Those collectors will, for sure. That Mustang Shelby GT500KR is made to be displayed on the owners precious garage and not meant for the road! Lol! However, I believe the new Mustang will be sold in just a short time! Even at that high price, car lovers will really drool over its good looks. In eBay, the asking price already reach to more than a hundred thousand dollars! I saw it was $132,000!

Although I can feel that is really an insanely overpriced Mustang ever, I am still certain that Ford will get their 40 to $50,000 profit in it. A GT500 Mustang Cobra is only $35,000. And with just a few modification for the new GT5000KR it already went double the price.

OMG!

it is way over priced. it has 35k add on from shelby motors, which should be about 12 to maybe 15k at the most. plus dealer want like 150k. this is whwy there are so many little rice burners running around and american muscle is really a thing of the past. people want little zipper cars that are fairly fast. the z06's are sitting on lots too. its a shame. we as americans are buying ourselves out of our own country by buying all this foreign stuff, cars, beer, wines, etc. and we are even selling our longtime american started and owned companies to foriegn owners. its a shame, but we only have ourselves to blame.

I'm not offended by the $79K MSRP, it's the dealers' greedy paws clamoring for a grip on the buyers' wallets that pisses me off. They're bumping the price up $30K+ because they can. Of course a business exists to make money and doing so while providing goods or services is fine. So I'm not surprised, just annoyed at their collective smarminess.

Whine , whine, whine: Greedy car dealers. what do you do for a living, greedy property specualators, Lawyers, Doctors, Insurance agents Etc. Etc. Etc. Oh maybe a computer Geek, talk about greed! hale the car dealers.

The GT500KR is worth every pennie. Lets see what these rice burners are bringing at

auction in 20 years.

It's this collective sell out to foriegn cars that is killing great brands like the Mustang, or Vet.

Just for an experiment, please tell me what other industrie, other than the car industrie , that you can go on line and find out the cost of the product let me think !! Oh Yeh None!

Stop whineing and start buying American again

ditto what Harry said. The consumer ultimately determines the price. Sell at MSRP so the new owner can sell it the next day and make 50 grand? Wouldnt make much sense.
