When the 5-door Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback was introduced in last year's Paris Motor Show, the Japanese automaker said the lancer hatchback version will only be available for the European and Asian market. Well, it seems Mitsubishi changed its mind and is now considering the idea of sending the Sportback troops to the US soil.
Mitsubishi is trying to increase their small car visibility in the North American market thus sending the Lancer Sportback as a 2010 model. The 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback for the US market will be offered in two variants, one is the 168-horsepower GTS and other, the more powerful 237-horsepower turbocharged Ralliart.
Mitsubishi has recently been observed changing their sales strategies by creating bolder designs. The Lancer Sportback will be joining its cousins, the Lancer Evolution and Lancer Sedan in the US.
This early, a lot of people are anticipating the arrival of the Sportback in the US. Though of the two variants that will be offered, it's obvious the Ralliart is the more sporty and more powerful version. Also, there are more options offered in the Ralliart than the GTS, but we also know it comes in a much higher price.
How much will they be is still a mystery and Mitsubishi said they will be releasing the prices of the Lancer Sportback sometime in the summer of this year and will also be available to the public around that period. For now, watch this commercial for the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback and think now if you want to own one.
