Transport Strike

By Car-Addict at 03/14/08 19:52

Not a week ago, the Philippines undergone a national transport strike as major associations of jeeps and buses united to conduct a national transport destabilization.

This event happened due to the associations plea to increase the minimum fare or lower the price of oil in the country. Although the transport strike caused a lot of delay among passengers, the government is fast enough to counter the event.

The National Transportation Management ordered national buses and trucks be deployed on places where major effect o the strike is being felt. A big part of Manila suffered a great delay because thousands of people just walk from their houses to their work. Malls and other shopping centers also complained of loosing millions of pesos because of the event.

During the strike, I saw big Ford Trucks and and towing-like vehicles from GM. They are big and can accommodate 10-20 people on my estimate. Luckily the strike did not affect other parts of the country. The strike concentrated mainly on the national capital region.

At that moment, there were also private vehicles who took advantage of the situation and turned themselves some sort of a taxi. And the fare is double as compared to the normal fare. I saw a luxurious Chevrolet Optra who sidelined as a taxi. There are also SUVs from Ford, like Expedition, who became a service for a company.

I really hope this kind of transport strikes will not happen again to avoid delays, damages and taking advantage of the situation.

The Cars of Paradise

By Car-Addict at 03/10/08 11:06
If you are living around the Cebu-Bohol-Leyte part in the Philippines, then hearing the word Paradise means 2 things for you. The first one is the place for ultimate relaxation with beautiful environment and no worries and problems, while the second one would be the Car Company located in this areas.

Yes, Paradise Motors is one of the many established auto center in the Philippines specially in the Visayas region. Paradise Motors is known as the distributor of luxury cars in the said areas. They distribute Ford, Cadillac, Toyota, Honda and Misubishi. But what really people like about them is their other arm known as Little Paradise.

Little Paradise is the center for selling and buying cars. If you want to sell your cars and buy a new one, this is definitely the place to go. And you can also exchange your car from one type to another. They sell cheap cars for those who are still beginners in driving or just want to buy a car for minimal purposes like everyday transportation for short distances.

Aside from these, both Paradise and Little Paradise offers warranty for their cars with free services like tuning up, airconditioning, allignment, installations, color repair, upholstery and many more.

Their cheap cars ranges from Php100-700k. And the good thing about this is you can pay it for installment. Yes, you can give them a downpayment and the rest will be divided in easy payments monthly. That is the reason why a lot of people are getting themselves a car now.

Seriously, the eye of poverty in the country is not being reflected with these people haha.

Car Crashed

By Car-Addict at 03/05/08 14:46
In a very recent event here in the Philippines, a line of luxury cars, hundred in numbers, were crashed by bulldozers in front of the public.

This is in accordance to the policy of the government that any smuggled goods were to be crashed and destroyed. Yes, you read it right, the luxury cars were smuggled.

The Department of Customs said the imported cars were named after a person, who in research, doesn't exist. The shipping of these cars to dealers were ceased because the import caretaker was not able to show proper documents for the said cars. Thus, they were crashed after a week of allowance given to the possible owners to show the right documents.

Cars that were crashed were all high end including Porsche, Lamborghini, Lexus, Cadillac, Chrysler and many more. The vehicles ranges from sports utility vehicles, sports car, luxury sedans, big vans, truck and some lite wagons.

Philippine branch of these brands already extended their word to the government officials that they are not behind this illegal doings, but they also expressed their feelings towards the vehicles that were crashed.

The public is now torn about the idea of the government doing the right thing or not. Many people suggested that instead of crashing those high value cars, why not just sell them to the brand owners so that the government can generate money from it. The idea is good, however, the government is just too tough to listen to such ideas.

This coming Saturday, 20 more vehicles are scheduled to be crash. Hey! Why not just give me those cars haha.
