Black and carbon fiber will dominate the displays this year in the Tokyo Motor Show as Lotus comes out to promote its latest sports car offering, the Lotus Exige, which, depending on the market it will be sold, will come with the alternative name of either Stealth or Scura.
Scura, which is Italian for 'black' is aptly given, as this latest sports car to talk about will come out in a sleeky black matte finish paint job, on top of the glossy phantom black triple stripes running through the exterior. Only 35 of these mechanical devils will be produced and, according to AutoBlog.com, it seems that none of them will arrive at the United States, unfortunately.
This sports car demon will also be better performance-wise than its older cousins, owing to its light carbon fiber exteriors, which allowed it to drop off at least 22 kg in weight. It will be powered by a 260-hp 4-cylinder engine. It will also come with launch control, traction control and 2-way adjustable Ohlins dampers, allowing it to reach a top speed of 152 mph and accelerate from 0 to 60 in exactly four seconds.
Quite obviously, it will come at a hefty price tag. EU customers are expected to pay around €61.000 while the Brits will have to shelve £45,000. In these markets, it will be called the Scura, though it will be alternatively named Lotus Exige Stealth in the Japanese market. If you think you have the money to afford this kind of automobile, then you already know what to do. This kind of machines only come out once in a while. And with total production of only 35 units, you should know very well that you have to hurry up.
