First Lexus Vehicle Recall

By Holy Wheels at 01/20/09 01:21

We all know Toyota have always created quality cars. Perhaps this is the reason why a lot of people around the world love the cars they create, thus enabling them to become the world's no. 1 car producer and own the most in demand cars in the world.

Toyota's luxury brand, Lexus, also shares the same philosophy, to create quality cars for everyone, however, just recently  there came a news that now puts the car brand in line with the big three when it comes to fault in cars when they were manufactured.

Lexus and with the cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration revealed recently that they will be recalling a total of 214,500 vehicles in the US. Now we know Toyota is not that  flawless when it comes to making vehicles. However, and the good thing about this recall is that, there weren't any claims made from someone who purchased their cars.

The recall was announced after Toyota-Lexus found a faulty fuel pipe, which could corrode and cause a leak over time. This looks more like a prevention from the company rather than waiting for the customer claims. This recall will ensure that your Lexus vehicle will run on a very good state so Lexus is recalling them before they even happen.

The Lexus vehicle recall will cover cars ranging from Lexus GS 300/350, IS 250/350 and LS 460/460L models which are produced between the years 2006 and 2008.

Lexus also said they will be informing the car owners of the recall within this month.

I own a 2007 IS250 and was experiencing a problem where my car would hesitate 1st thing in the morning. I brought my car in, letting the dealer know of the problem. Based on their testing, they have confirmed this recall was related to this.

I'm glad they identified this, but it was beginning to cause a problem for me. One month after this post I still had not received anything abou the recall, so a bit concerned as to Lexus/Toyota's ability to perform recalls timely.

Additionally 4 months ago, I had a problem with the brakes and during my screening at the dealer I let them know of significant brake dust. They made me aware of replacement pads that were available and would be covered under warranty. This was great news, but the rotors needed to be replaced if I wanted the pads to last. So I got the pads free but the rotors cost $300.

Overall, the experience has been good, but 2 issues I have had, I brought to the dealer, instead of being informed by Lexus

I offered to buy a 2009 ES350 in October under the dealership guidelines that they offered to me in May 2007 when I purchased my 3rd ES350. Now as the economy nosedives they still don't want to live up to what they said back then and have gotten greedy or don't give a damm to former customers.

This was going to be my 4th lexus since I was buying a new car every 2 to 2.5 years.

Honda did this to the RL when they try to compete against the LS.

I owned 9 Rl's till then and they lost my Business.

Will Lexus be next?

On june 26 my daughter and I was driving in my 2007 IS 250 when all of the sudden the car started rubbling, I immediately tried to put on the brakes and the car simply would not stop. My daughter panicked as did I because the car kept rubbling but would not stop. I had to eventually turn off the road to get out of harms way and not run into cars in front of me. I attempted to turn out of ignition and still the care would not turn off as it just kept pulling us forward. I kept pounding on the ignition button and the car finall stopped and then it started smoking. We jumped out the car walked away and called Triple A. They advised me not to drive the car further. I had the car towed to my Lexus dealership the next morning. They will have my car over the weekend so I won't know what really happen until next week. This was a very scary experience and I just thank GOD that me and my daughter are safe and nobody got hurt.

I have been having alot of problems with my Lexus is 250 2006 it at 60k, had 2 recals going on a third, car had entire engine overhall timing chain, power stering rack, coil springs, cylinder head, peeling paint on the rims? they have had my car in and out for 2 weeks and still cant fix the problem? HELP, i drive this car easy and put in high octaine, and did all the maintenance, now the engine light comes on and gives me a vsc light, the car stalls and has trouble fireing when you stop and then hit the gas and the car doesnt respond! this just happend to me at an intersection going right on a red and as i took my foot off the brake and switch to the gas NOTHING happens im drifting in the middle of the intersection and a 18 wheeler is heading straight for me on a down hill, all i could do is just keep pressing the gas peddal and it finally got going, this scared the #$%# out of me and i bring the car back in and after a week they still dont know what wrong?? im verry concerened, and im getting no answers, if anyone has had similar experiences please infom me...thanks..

I have experienced the almost-stalling problem in the past with my 2006 Lexus IS250. Yesterday the car started jerking as I was waiting at a red light. When I put my foot on the gas, it seemed like the car was about to stall & it just wouldn't accelerate. Then the check engine light and the VSC light came on. It scared me so I turned around and headed back to the house. I am no longer under warranty as I have 54,000 miles on the car, and I am not sure what is wrong, or if the problem is covered by PowrerTrain. It is gonna cost 130 just to diagnose the problem. I just took my car in last month for all of the dealer/factory recall repairs. What the hell is going on? I pay too much money for these problems. Ladylex in LA

Nick have 2006 is 250 awd 20,000 miles, same thing happened twice to me.first time they could find nothing after 5 days and said take it back. happened again 1 month later exactly same place, stopped at intersection then went to go left and engine died. can't restart unitl put tarbns back intopark, cant turn the wheel as too hard with no engine. scared the crap out me as cars have to stop and you are a sitting duck in middle of intersection. they are replacing valves (under warranty) but I'll tell this is scary stuff. could die any time. One more time and they get sued.

they replace half of my engine parts and it's only 47,000 miles on it. Lexus quality is getting worst. I've so many issues with the car. I don't think i want to keep it any longer.

I have had the 2003 ES300 bran new and loved the ride and how quiet it was. I now have an IS350 lots of fun but I find the engine is a bit loud for a lexus, does anyone have this happening to them? Thanks
