Can Your Cell Phone Unlock Your Car Doors?

This may seem a little crazy, but I have heard that you can send signals through your cell phone to unlock your car doors. I know that when I first heard of this I thought it was a joke. Let me tell you how this all came about.

Last night, me and a few friends were watching Monday Night Football at my house. After the game they all went outside to leave. Two of my friends came in one car, and the other walked a few blocks home. After about 5 minutes Frank, the driver, came back into my house explaining to me that he locked his keys in the car. He wanted to call his mom who lived about 4 miles away to help him. He told me that she had the alarm remote at home. I really didn't know how that would help him considering he had her car at my house! How would she get there to give him the remote?

He told me that if she touched the remote to the phone and pressed the unlock button that it would send a signal through the phone and unlock his doors. All he had to do was point my cell phone at the car as she pressed the button. I thought, NO WAY! So he uses my phone and calls his mom. Talking into the phone to his mom, he said, "okay 1 2 3", aimed the phone at his car and unbelievably, his car doors unlocked!!

I still can't believe it. He swears that he wasn't playing games with me and that it had actually worked the way he explained. I still don't believe him. I think that when my 3 friends went outside to leave, the one friend that walked home probably hid somewhere and used the remote himself to unlock the doors. Maybe they had planned it out. Has anyone else ever heard of this? I haven't tried this trick myself yet, but I am really curious to find out!
