Secret of the Interlinked Circles; Audi's Logo

By Wilbur Corncob at 10/30/07 11:42

In this blog we will demystify the secret behind the meaning of the four interlinked circles that represent a unique brand in the world of automotives. Yes you are right I am referring to the Audi logo which consists of four rings which are interlinked with each other.

We know how majestic it looks to have that logo in front of the vehicle we drive but have you ever thought whatever inspired Audi to have such a logo. Well if you are thinking that it is somewhat related to the Olympic symbol, guess what? You are not right!

Agreed that the logo closely resembles the Olympic symbol which has five interlinked circles with three on the top and two below them. But the symbol of Audi represents the union of four different companies which merged with Audi namely DKW, Horch and Wanderer, with each single ring represents each of the four companies.

This merger took place in the year 1932 which means that nearly three fourths of a century ago which is a significant time period in the history of any company. Today nearly 75 years after that event, the symbol of Audi does not need any introduction and is synonym with quality and style in the world of automotives.

Don't let your dream ride pass you by. Make it a reality

A little history of Audi

By Wilbur Corncob at 10/11/07 09:08
The founder of Audi was a gentleman by the name of August Horch, but then you might wonder why Audi is not called Horch or August for that matter. Well the reasoning is pretty simple, Horch was the name of one of the four companies which amalgamated in the year 1932 to form which is today known as the Audi AG.

As for the name "August" all I can say is that may be the calendar sort of name did not match the brand that Audi was destined to become in the days to come. But that does not mean to say that Horch does not occupy a place in the name of company for Audi is the Latin translation of the word Horch, since the latter had to be dropped due to some court litigation.

Although the four companies merged in the year 1932, the history of Audi is nearly quarter of a century older than that and it began in the year 1909 when Horch started the company. Currently Audi is a subsidiary of the Volkswagen group and produces all sorts of high quality models which are a symbol of technical excellence that German engineering is renowned for the world over.
