September 16 will mark General Motor's 100th year in the automobile industry. Founded on September 16, 1908 in Flint, Michigan, GM as what it is commonly called is now one of the world's largest companies. For 77 years, it held the title of the largest car maker in the world until early this year, when Toyota stepped over its title claiming to have higher annual sales than GM.
For over the century, GM has provided many people with unimaginable number of cars. They have created millions and is still being used by many. Although there are a considerable number of complains and features that lack in GM cars, its an undeniable fact that they are still one of the most driven car.
Altogether with their current performance in the market and their rich history in car making, do you think GM will last for another 100 years? This is a question thrown at me by a friend yesterday.
Personally, I think GM can still make it to their next 100 years. I mean, GM is not just GM. A lot of companies are owned by GM though they market with a different name. And I don't think they will be out of the industry anytime soon. Though they recently was looking for bail outs, I still think they'll manage to survive the curse of the high oil price.
Anyway, in accordance with GM's 100th year celebration tomorrow, at exactly 8:30 AM EST, the pride of General Motors will finally be unveiled, the long anticipated Chevy Volt. After months of waiting, we'll finally get to see the official Chevrolet Volt live to be unveiled tomorrow. I saw one blue Chevy Volt in a shooting scene for Transformers 2 but I can't wait to have it sully unveiled to the public. It's an event car lovers must see.
We'll try to keep you on track with that. Again, Happy 100th Year to you GM!
