Goodbye SUVs? Not.

By Sam Heisin at 04/30/08 22:55

Goodbye SUVs. This is the trend that's been emerging for the recent months. Manufacturers are starting to shift their fields from this big vehicles down to small cars. But is it really goodbye for them? Not.

I do not believe these bulky wheels will not be around for the coming years. Why? Because SUVs are LOVE! Indeed. Who doesn't love them? You like them for sure. Your sisters, your brothers, your kids love them. If you are a loner or some kind people who only wants himself and another passenger in the car can rejoice for the slowing down of these SUVs in the market. But for those people that uses the phrase "Family matters!" will not be as happy as they are.

Illinois, hybrid cars: Toyota Highlander Hybrid

The only thing that hates SUVs for sure is your wallet. Using them are not actually convenient nowadays. They consumed a lot of gas that people are now more inclined to buy and use smaller cars. But still, a 6 or 7 or an 8 seater vehicle is still best if you come to think of it.

SUVs, Crossovers are the best cars in the road for me. If I would be given chance to choose between small 2 seater of 4 seater against a bulky crossover, I would not be hesitant to choose the latter. If the only concern we have is the cost of fuel and this continuous oil price hike, there are alternatives we can do and still use SUVs.

There are fuel efficient SUVs that can go a little less of what the ordinary SUVs consume. Just like for example the Hyundai Santa Fe that uses a 2.4 L four cylinder engine. The Toyota RAV4 that is specially made for fuel economy and has the capacity of 58 L (15.3 US gal. The Toyota Highlander and its new hybrid version is the most fuel efficient SUV I can say. It offers electric mode only for short distances and is one of Toyota forerunners of green cars for their Hybrid Synergy Drive set.

Now, is it really goodbye for SUVs? Its a big no no. Long live the big ones!
