It's been months of spying and spreading rumors before the powers up there finally confirmed the announcement of the Ferrari 458 Italia--and now that it has been finally shown to the public in the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009, people still cannot stop talking about it.
Indeed, the release of a new Ferrari always causes a stir among the fan communities. Despite not being at par with its more powerful cousins, the 458 Italia remains to be among the most powerful in its category of sports cars. It has a top speed of 202mph (the first one in the Ferrari V8 series) and can accelerate to speeds of 62 mph in just as short as 3.4 seconds. It is powered by a 4.5-litre, 562bhp V8 engine that promises to emit a measly 320g/km of CO2 and a fuel mileage of 20.6mpg.
Contributing to this kind of speed is its weight, which only tips at around 3,042 pound, thanks to the aluminum body that it sports, just like its predecessors.
I really won't go into the details of the automobile specifications, but if you want to check it out, you should look at what this article from AutoBlog.com has to say. All I've heard is that it is projected to be sold starting Spring 2010. There has been no announcement of actual prices yet but initial estimates put the car at around £150,000. It's just reasonable given the time and production costs that the Italian sports car manufacturer has put into it.
The Motor Show has barely opened (as of this writing) and yet surprises galore are already all over. We'll see what the Show has to show (pun not intended) in the coming days. Just stay tuned to this blog if you want to get daily updates about it.
