I bought a 1999 Ford Explorer from an auto auction a little over a year ago. Other than some normal minor problems, my Explorer has ran great for me since the day I pulled it off the Auction lot. Well until now. I am having some problems with my CD player in the truck. I bought a Panasonic CD player for it a few months after I bought it. So for a year now the CD player has worked just fine. Now for some reason CD players won't last in my truck for anything!
Two weeks ago is when the Panasonic quit working. What happened was the sound all of a sudden cut out. Everything worked. The radio stations worked. The CD's would still play. But there would just not be any sound at all. So I thought that maybe the CD player was junk. Maybe having for a year was long enough and it just broke. I went out and bought a brand new one. After I installed it everything was fine. It sounded great and everything worked perfectly. Then about a week later it broke too!
So I thought that instead of buying a new one I would just put the old factory CD player back in the car. I did this because I thought maybe the other CD players broke because the wiring was screwed up or something. So I went in the garage and dug out the factory CD player. After installing it in the car, once again, everything worked fine. Then the next day, nothing! It broke again! Just like before, everything on the display was working, but the sound wasn't! I don't know what to fix in this car to make my CD players work! Has anyone ever had this problem? If so, is there a way to find out what 's wrong?
