Ford on Aggressive Advertising

10/18/09 07:54

If you have noticed, Detroit-based automaker, Ford Motors Company is the most visible of the 3 biggest American carmaker in the media. Advertising exposure wise, Ford will emerge as the ultimate champion against the other two.

However, it seems like Ford won't be stopping on that point. It has recently announced that it is willing to spend more on its advertising and promotions to expose to the public their newest vehicles. They plan to do it in the next 6 months.

Rival manufacturers GM and Toyota has been doing aggressive advertising for years. Some say that Ford is doing this  to counter other manufacturers advertisements but Ford however countered the idea that its doing its own marketing schemes to be able to compete with the other players in the industry.

“Our competitors are having to do this because they lost share or they’ve got to regain confidence", said a Ford representative during an interview with Automotive News.Ford is also confident that most people preferred their vehicles over the other American kinds.

“We’re in a completely different place in the sense that people are interested in Ford, and so our job is to educate them more.”

On a related note, Ford CEO Alan Mulally confirmed while on a trip to China that they still plan to sell their Swedish arm, volvo.  He said that there is already a buyer and talks still continue. He failed to name the highest bidders though.
