Name of your website?

Erne School of motoring

Your name?

Paul mc Gettigan

Your Location (city, etc)

Cavan

When did you start your website and why?

I started the website a year ago.. `mainly due to the fact that the motorists and learners of Ireland did not have a fully comprehensive website that they could log on to and get very simple questions answered about the driving test for example, or the penalty points system.. our rules of the road book was not updated for 15 years so i decided to do something about it.. get the info up there and increase my pass rate by giving the clients what they need in plain english..

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

Erne School of Motoring, We are based in Belturbet and cover a vast area including Monaghan town and county, Cavan town and county and also leitrim.

All of our qualifed (Dir, Iam, Rsa approved), friendly, patient instructors will bring any novice to being a natural behind the wheel, in a comfortable informal enviroment.

All of our Dual Controlled Toyota Corrolla's are under the constant control of our Instructors so that you have the peace of mind that nothing can, or ever will go wrong..

Why not avail of our pick up/drop off service at a location of your choice too..

Our extensive website has everything the learner/motorist needs, from all the Road Signs, The Examiners Q+A, Penalty points, Driving test walk throughs, Theory test explained..Provisional licence applications online, Safe Driving and Motorcycle techniques and lots of motoring related links. All you need and more all on one address..

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

The most difficult part was the amount of material i had to painstakingly create , the road signs.., the vast amount of info that had to be typed out and uploaded, im not the quickest on the keyboard! I suppose trying to get a valuable link base set up with worthy sites, sending out emails and asking nicely and all that took up a hell of alot of time and patience..

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

just adding new information that arouse withing the motoring scene in Ireland in smaller chapters to keep my site up to the minute..

What was your biggest mistake?

My biggest mistake was not making out a solid plan on how i wanted the site to take shape.. i just sorta winged it, which made alot more work for myself, but the results say it all, it was totally worth it.. no regrets.

Who maintains your website and why?

I do, because what goes on it is all down to me, and i know every single letter and picture and symbol is up there for a reason because i put it there and i know it is right.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

Alot of "out of county business", as regards people from Dublin , and southern counties coming up our way because of the shorter waiting times for driving tests, this is only one example..

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

I feel there is more reliance on the internet now more than ever for people, this need to be in touch with the "outside " world will only increase and get stronger. We use it now for even ordering pizzas!! 5 or 10 years ago broadband was just a dream and faster download speeds were just and idea. I feel the progression of the internet will have be faster, immenent information and more accessable from mobile stations ect

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

Obviously an absolute must .. but they can be a little hard to please as regards your structure of the site , so in order to make a good rating you have to understand what the search engine like and dislike..

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Link building with reputable websites.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

For someone to invent a pill for my pc to get rid of virus attacks and spam!! Faster speeds.. and less adverts.

What is your website address?

Erne School of motoring
