ClearFlow - Microsoft's New Software for Motorist

By Car Agent at 04/11/08 04:53

, software: Microsoft Traffic Software

Last week, the software giant, Microsoft, announced that they will be releasing a software that is intended for getting drivers avoid jam and heavy traffic. The software's name is ClearFlow, and it will be use in Microsoft's driving direction site.

The software development went over 5 years of researching and on hand testing. The researchers devoted their time in developing the software. The great deal about it is that it will be implemented for free and free access to everyone. It will be available at no cost for 72 US metropolitan cities. It will take into account details such as sporting events, current weather and time of day to get drivers to their destinations in the shortest amount of time.

The new software may, for example, instruct drivers to remain on a busy highway rather than take side streets during rush hour, as the busy road and waiting at street lights would take longer. What the ClearFlow program doesn't seem to take into account, however, are real-time updates such as road / highway closures or accidents.

The process of the software's development started with Microsoft's employee participation. They volunteered to have their cars be planted with high-tech GPS units that collected data of mileage within Seattle. The data took almost 125,000 road mileage. The data was then algorithmically applied to other cities, according to New York Times.

However, there is still no word on the release date or the cities ClearFlow will cover yet, or whether or not the directions could be sent to a mobile device. For now, let us just hope that this will turn out good and people will get benefited.

Now... what happens if you need to reboot? What happens when the software crashes... does that turn into a huge "crash and burn" on the expressway?

No real time updates / processing? Lazy programmers... resulting in a worthless product compared to what it could have been...

Now that's what we need to find out. They have not release any additional information. It was suggested that they shall make a mobile program for easy access but no disclose plans from them yet.

Yes, if would have been more useful if they are not that lazy
