Cheap Cars In The Philippines
By Lens Flare at 04/28/08 04:46
I went on a travel with my family recently in the remote town of Ternate, Cavite in the Philippines. And while on the road, I spotted some nefty-cheapy goods, and they are beautiful. I am talking about the cheap cars for sale in the province that I don't usually see in the metros. There is this one car shop near a gasoline station in Gen. Trias, Cavite where we stopped to refuel. I visited the shop very quick but saw that their price range is also different. A used Toyota Camry in the city will cost you around 300-500k while its price in the province is only 260k. Its a fixed price. A 1995 Mitsubishi Lancer cost around 100-200k in the city while it is only priced 90k in that shop. (Divide by about 42 to get US Dollars) As we went on to our journey, a traffic jam stopped us for about 2 minutes in the middle of the highway. Along the highway is a motor shop, not really a car for sales store, but I saw that they are selling used SUV's and other cars. The huge Hyundai Starex Van in the metro is 300-400k but they are selling it for the low price of 150k! Wow that really was cheap. I wonder how they arrived at this prices. All cars mentioned comes in with a warranty to avoid being tricked into having your car damaged or replaced with bad parts. Having said that, I now conclude that provincial rates for cars for sale is obviously cheaper than those in the bustling cities. However, if you are living in the city, particularly in Manila, it will not be convenient for you to buy a car from a store that is 3-4 hours of travel away. If the car has a problem, it will be a pain in the ass to travel back to the car shop. But if you are one of those highly motivated person with a lot of perseverance in their pocket, I believe buying cars in the province is best for you. In the end, the car quality is still the best criteria for cars sold both in the province and even in the metros. Cars are always beautiful. But looks can be deceiving.

hi guys.... im spike and i am a part of a group of students doin some research on cars and transportation.... i was just wondering if i could ask you guys (preferably those who belong to class C with income ranging from 30000 to 50000) if you are brand-conscious.... for clearer understanding, please allow me to create a scenario..... if you were offered a brand-new chinese manufactured sub-compact car for a price of just 400000 pesos with a five-year after-sales service, would you give it a go? OR, would you just buy a BRANDED SECOND HAND model? please do reply and voice out your insights...thank you guys....Ü Comment #4 mikolo at 05/03/09 10:46
ill go for the branded second hand, your 400k is close to buying a slightly used cars which are being claimed by the bank for some who does not meet the deadlines of their debts, if you know someone who will accompany you to the real dealers of this products, its best for you to seek their advice, i had a friend who spent only 650k for a slightly used Ford Everst, model 2006, diesel, that was good enough thinking that the real price in the market is doubled... do u know the exact location of this shops? can u email it to me pls!!!tnx very much!!! Comment #7 Dave Starr at 08/01/09 23:15
For Spike and his brand research: I would likely go for the branded new car. I'm an American living fulltime in the Philippines and I definetly am above your income rankig. I bought a new Mitsubishi a few years ago from a dealer and believe I made the ebst choice. The reason for me is not price, it's real 'casa' service. As a foreigner I find the used car market here extremely fragmented snd difficult to deal with. Also competent independent repair shops are very few and far between ... when your car breaks down and you have to loan the mechanic tools to fix it, confidence suffers ...I consider the casa maintenance costs a bargain, rather than letting domeone ruin somehting just to be tipid.
