Shear Comfort Interview

By Interviewer at 01/15/08 14:12

Name of your website?

Shear Comfort

Your name?

Steven Plinke

Your Location (city, etc)

Vancouver

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Shear Comfort is your home for high quality car seat covers! Styles include Hawaiian car seat covers, camo seat covers, OEM truck seat cover, neoprene seat covers, and sheepskin seat covers. Car seat covers, truck seat covers, and van seat covers available.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

A longstanding interest in the automotive field and interior industry and a desire to promote Shear Comfort Ltd.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

A long time ago! We've come a long ways since then, the website has been redesigned several times.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Originally focusing on sheepskin seat covers, Shear Comfort seemed to work well!

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

-Our 25 years in business as a brick-and-mortar company. -Our dedication to customer service. -Our wide variety of styles and offerings. -Our low prices.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We're hoping to stay at shearcomfort.com for a long time!

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Having a successful website is a constant struggle, it's hard work but I think it pays off financially and otherwise.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would probably integrate shearcomfort.com sales into our accounting system better, and streamline all of our internal paperwork that way. A lot of the nuts and bolts stuff. I'm happy with how it is visually.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Absolutely, shearcomfort.com is very scalable and can handle nearly any amount of demand. Hopefully we run into this problem!

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Hosting issues! Always make sure your host is easy to deal with before you sign up with them.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Again I would have to say hosting. Check the reputation of your hosting company! I cannot stress that enough.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Having a quality product that people want to buy and are going to be happy about receiving.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I now spend more time looking at shearcomfort.com analytics than I do on the sales desk, which is either a good or a bad thing depending on what you like doing!

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I don't see shearcomfort.com dropping off anytime soon. We have a great marketing department and they do their job! I'm happy keep running this site forever.

Where do you see Shearcomfort going in the future?

We're happy to announce several new product lines, come check out the site and see what's available today!

What is your website address?

Shear Comfort
