Personal Auto Advisors Interview

By Interviewer at 07/18/07 11:44

Name of your website?

Personal Auto Advisors

Your name?

Bryan

Your Location (city, etc)

Olathe

When did you start your website and why?

We started this site because we have seen so much bad information on cars & car repair that we felt someone needed to establish an accurate and reliable site with correct information.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

We are out to provide a service to people that don't want to hassle with auto service, or who need expert advice to help them along with the D.I.Y. side of things. We provide full automotive assistance using our experience in the industry to assist consumers in getting the best deals possible & only fixing what is needed.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Marketing... once people hear about our service, they understand the benefits, but it is hard to get information to people. The only other thing hard so far is trying to put all of our information in a short and readable webpage, we simply offer so much it is hard to describe.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

Performing the service at the level we demand. Since our marketing is down, we have more time than we know what to do with right now. I am hoping this will change soon and allow us to work hard to provide

What was your biggest mistake?

Thinking that people would see the information and accept that what we offer is valuable. There is a lot of explaining that needs to be done before people realize the benefit of what we provide.

Who maintains your website and why?

I do, I am the one in the family with the computer experience as well as automotive experience & I love dealing with computers. It works out quite well and I enjoy my 18 hour days.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

We now have much more exposure and we are already seeing the benefit with more customers realizing what we have to offer.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

I enjoy doing business online greatly, I shop online and do a whole lot of research on items/services before I buy. We realize that many people are doing this now because it gives them an opportunity to take their time and determine whether a service/product is for them.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

I think search engines are going in the right direction. It used to take experience to sift through all the junk that popped up on Search Engines that were in no way related to the keywords typed. The new rules or guidelines are making a big difference in allowing people to find what they are seaching for.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

Search engines do nothing but help. Most customers will find you buy using a search engine. They are very necessary and all have many great features.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Pay Per Click advertising. When you get listed in the sponsered results area, people see you. The only thing I don't like about it is paying for people to come by that had no interest anyway... but all advertising has downsides.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Flyers. We did a massive local campaign going door to door and car to car posting flyers. It led to phone calls, but not many hits on the website.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

Nothing... We need to leave it alone, there are too many good things that could be ruined by outside involvement or government guidelines.

What is the biggest benefit you offer to your customers?

We offer peace of mind. We save people money everyday, sometimes we are able to help people perform a repair on their car that a shop would have charged hundreds of dollars for. Knowledge is power, and we have a lot of knowledge to share. We are teachers, and enjoy helping people learn about their car and the automotive business as a whole.

What is your website address?
