I am a 25 year old guy making a living from working at a body shop for a car company. I do make good money but as we all know, I could always use more. Work has been kind of slow due to the bad economy.
I don't get paid hourly so sometimes if the work isn't there, I'm pretty much wasting my time. I only get paid for what the repair calls for. So if it takes me 20 hours to fix a car that the books say should take me 30 hours, I pretty much get the 10 extra hours while I do something else. It really sucks sometimes. Some weeks I get a real good amount in my check, and some weeks are horrible. I figured I need to find a way to make some extra money.
Sometime on my free time I like to detail my Wife's car to keep me busy. Every time I give her car a full detail inside and out she comes home telling me that all her co-workers love how her car looks. So the past couple of months some of her co-workers have asked if I would detail their cars for them. Well since I have been needing some extra money I said yes.
I do such a good job on these cars, now I have about 3 cars to do every week. That may not seem like a lot, but it really helps me with money. Not only am I getting extra money, but it also does not take too much of my time to do. I suggest to anyone who may need a little more money to get by, find something your good at, and try to find some people who like your work. It may help you!
