Cadillac Cien

By Sam Heisin at 09/24/08 18:23

A few days ago I borrowed DVDs from my neighbor whom I know is a certified movie collector. The strong storm made me really lazy that I don't want to go out and is willing to spend the whole day just watching movies in a DVD marathon. For that day alone, I watched 6 movies in total. It was indeed a long movie marathon.

One of the movies that particularly got my attention is the film from director Michael Bay starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlet Johansson, its title is The Island. I actually do not like the the movie in general and turned out to be a major disappointment. However, there is one scene that made me researched a lot about the film. Watch this video so you'll know what I'm talking about.

This is the car chase scene in the movie. I really wanted to know what was the name of the car used in the film because it looks familiar so I researched about it. And I learned that it is actually a car that no one in public will be able to drive. It is the Cadillac Cien, a concept car that will never be commercially produce.

The Cadillac Cien is actually the car that commemorates the 100th foundation year of Cadillac. It was first unveiled in 2002, the centenary celebration of Cadillac's foundation in 1902. The Cien itself can be translated to "one hundred" in Spanish.

Now I know why it looks familiar, because I have actually driven one before. Yes, I have driven one, in a car game. It is one of the cars used in Gran Turismo 4. How fool am I not to remember that the Cien was there. The Cadillac Cien is also a downloadable car in a game in Xbox, the Test Drive Unlimited.

I just hope Cadillac will change their mind and decide to create this super beautiful car. Though for sure I will not be able to have one, I will be happy enough to learn someone can drive it legally on public roads.
