Because the US$1,440,800 Veyron is still doing great at sales despite of its Godzilla pricing, Volkswagen Group unveiled another version of the successful mid-engine sports car.
The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport was unveiled by the company during the weekend at the Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance in France and the new car looks very regal. It's so beautiful that you would want to sell your first Veyron just to have this new one. The car still has its charm and retained the 16 cylinder engine with a 1001 horsepower output.
First feature that separates the Grand Sport to its older brother is that it comes with an open-top version. You can now open the roof to watch the stars while driving, if you're good at multi-tasking. Perhaps you also need to be extra careful while star gazing while driving because we all know how much speed the Veyron can generate.
The 250 mile per hour characteristic of the old Veyron models can still be seen in the Veyron Grand Sport. Although the Grand Sport was designed for safer driving and Bugatti increased the curb weight. Despite it being heavier, 250 mile per hour is still possible, and at least 217 mph is advisable if your going to open the roof for sightseeing.
The actual pricing of the Veyron Grand Sport is still unknown but we can expect it to be a lot more expensive. The new Grand Sport open-top version is slated to be produced by the spring of 2009, and we can expect that the first orders will reservations, just like what happened to the first versions of the Veyron.
