For the past week, there was a couple of times I saw the community ambulance passing by my house. If I am not mistaken, there have been about 20 to 30 times that the ambulance rushed in and out of the village where I lived in. The first incident of the series of ambulance's ambulant behavior is during a strong storm that hit the Philippines not a week ago. It left a number of casualties, injured people and people seeking emergency transportation due to the absence of commercial mean of transportation during that time. That is perhaps the reason why the community ambulance is roaming the town searching for any situation that needs their help.
But right after the storm have passed, another event enabled me to even hopped inside an ambulance. My friend suffered from severe stomach pain of which later was found as a severe form of appendicitis. His maid managed to inform me about the incident and a modular ambulance immediately arrived after I called them. We call that ambulance in our vicinity the "roaming hospital" because of its big size and almost complete equipments. Sometimes it is also called as "Clinic in a Wheel". Fortunately, due to the quick response and good medical staff aboard the ambulance, he was given proper first aid and soon recovered well in the hospital.
Since I was a kid, I have always dreamed of riding an ambulance just for the sake of experiencing it. Not that I want someone be needing an ambulance, it's just that I love how it looks like and as a kid, I was fascinated with the AMBULANCE written backwards and in a mirror-like image, ECNALUBMA. It's big appearance of an improved and enlarge van or SUV really makes me love it even more.
To date, I just made my 9th ambulance ride. The first 3 were during my college years, the other 5 were for a medical mission around the country and the 9th is due to this event.
