In 1997, Toyota made history when it unveiled the first mass-produced hybrid car in the world, the Toyota Prius. For many year, the Prius has been a household name when it comes to car fuel efficiency. As a matter of fact, when you say the word "hybrid", most people would initially say"it's a Prius".
From that time on, the Prius has evolved into something more sophisticated than it was before. Although a lot will complain about it being "ugly", I really think it is not that ugly considering there are far more uglier cars out there compared the Prius. So it won't hurt me when you say "the Prius is not a car, it's a lunchbox".
After 12 years, the Toyota Prius is now back for its third generation model. Toyota chose to unveil it at the first major car show of the year, the 2009 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), formerly Detroit Auto Show.
The 2010 Toyota Prius model did not go into a lot of changes when it comes to the external design. It still wears much of the lines and shapes of its predecessor. That being mentioned, I admit it will be hard for those design lovers to accept the new Prius.
However, there are a lot of added features that you might want to check and might change your mind this is the car you've been waiting for.
First in the list of added features is the moonroof with solar panels. Obviously, those give the car additional charge to go farther. It also has a four driving modes, a high-tech steering wheel with touch control system and an Intelligent Parking Assist or the IPA. There is also a multi information display panel that lets you monitor your fuel usage and car status.
The car's weight is also lighter and the belts under the hood were remove, thus giving you better fuel efficiency as well as less potential maintenance. A few montsh after its official launc, Toyota's first safety/security service, Safety Connect, will be an added option for the car.
